4th Project Meeting in Glasgow-Scotland, 18th-25th October 2015

The 4th meeting of the project took place at Croftcroighn school in Glasgow-Scotland from the 18th till the 25th October 2015.

 

The teachers and guests taking part were:

The program of the meeting week included many activities, visits and dinners

 

On Sunday 18th of October, which was the arrival date in the evening, there was the reception of the partner teachers and a welcome dinner at Amarone restaurant.

On Tuesday 20th October the guests had a tour with the famous Glasgow sightseeing bus and they visited the Kelvingrove museum and Riverside museum.

The multi-award winning Riverside Museum is home to over 3,000 objects that detail Glasgow’s rich past from its days as maritime powerhouse to a glimpse into daily Glasgow life in the early to mid 20th Century. Amongst the objects on display are everything from skateboards to locomotives, paintings to prams, vintage cars to a stormtrooper.

We also visited Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum which houses one of Europe's great art collections. It is amongst the top three free-to-enter visitor attractions in Scotland and one of the most visited museums in the United Kingdom outside of London

During the 4th day of the meeting week, Thursday the 22nd, there was a whole day visit by bus to Edinburg, where the partner teachers visited the Scottish parliament and had a tour of the parliament campus. During their free time to explore Edinburgh, some of the visitors went to Edinburgh castle and the Royal Mile.

On Monday 19th October the visitors were welcomed at Croftcroighn school and the hosts had organized a welcome presentation. The Scottish pupils sang a song with their music teacher. There was also a tour at school and after the partner teachers went on a bus excursion and they visited the Glengoyne distillery where they sampled the famous Glengoyne malt whiskey and learned all about the complex process of distilling whiskey. Then they had lunch to Oldmill Kilearn. The evening dinner in Glasgow was at “The Hope” restaurant.

 

The 3rd day of the meeting week, Wednesday the 21st, the guest partners attended a communication workshop at the host Scottish school. Mrs Suzanne Campbell, the deputy head teacher, presented to all the visitors about how they use communication at Croftcroighn school. The visitors also learned Makaton signing, symbols and all about Alternative Augmentative Communication and even some Glasgow slang!

The head teacher Mrs Margaret Mc Fadden hosted a cookery workshop for all visitors. They learned how to make Cranachan (a famous Scottish dessert) which is traditionally served at Christmas time.

Following our project meeting, all visitors enjoyed a traditional Scottish lunch at Croftcroighn school.

The last day of the meeting week, Friday the 23rd, the guest partners visited the City Chambers and were welcomed by the Bailie Eva Bolander.

In the afternoon they participated in an International celebration at school which involved dances, music and food from each of the Erasmus plus countries and in the evening there was a farewell Ceilidh at school again.
