Abdurrahim Karakoç Ortaokulu is a general secondary school (grades 5-8) located in the city centre of Kahramanmaraş province. The school is new built (finished 2012) and equipped with modern facilities. Besides an open air school yard and sports area, it has also a very nice multi-purpose hall for activities. There are more than 1000 students and 45 teachers and 5 other staff in our school. Most students come from sophisticated and well-educated parents and they are really aware of the importance of the education. This is an advantage for our school. There are also some students from social risk groups. Even though it is new school, it has earned a great reputation with its success in high school entrance exams (SBS). Besides 22 students who enrolled in Science High Schools, more than 100 students also enrolled in Anatolia high schools with high points and grades. Last year, it was on the top of school list in the city with a great academic profile. Our school has a very respectable place in the city with its outstanding education team, successful students and high-level educated parents.

It is time to take this success beyond local borders and that is why we are here in this project. Conducting a European-level project in the school will reinforce our success and will give us a chance to disseminate this honor in our local society. In the light of these facts, it is very obvious that we can make a good start for our future institutional identity which is very important not only today but also for future of school.

To create tolerant, open-minded European citizens our school needs the project like this one as it aims at promoting a concept of Europe without border based on different traditions but united by common values and constructed through cooperation, intercultural dialogue and equal opportunities.
