We are a primary school, with 16 buildings and with students from kindergarten to 9th grade. Our students belong to 5 administrative areas from Santa Maria da Feira Municipality, located on the North of Portugal, 30 Km far from Oporto city, the second city after Lisbon, the capital.

We have 1200 students and one hundred teachers. This group of schools has already been a Educative Territory for Priority Intervention, considered a socio-economic disadvantaged area. People have low qualifications (6th and 9th grade) and their income and salaries are also low. Unemployment has been increasing and this area is mainly related to footwear industry.

We are conscious that students have different interests and sometimes show no awareness of the importance of learning and acquiring skills and competences. For this reason, since 2005, we started different courses to try to give more opportunities to students at risk of abandoning school (Pastry, Arts, Comercial, ICT).

Since 2008 we have European projects with different partners such Poland (Katowice and Gdansk), Spain (Madrid), Italy (Ancona and Calabria), Turkey (Duzce and Antalya)), Slovenia, Greece (Xanti and Patras), France (Joué-le-Tours), Netherlands (Zandrobe), Belgium (Maaseik), Norway (Molde), Bulgaria (Sofia). We promoted mobilities for students and teachers and they had the opportunity to learn more about history, cultural heritage, geography and educational systems of other schools and countries involved.
